Hi Teddy
Thanks. I am still trying to sort out the information from the wills. Yes, William could have been Elizabeth's brother, there seem to have been less Pickerills then Dungers.

I haven't worked out the Dungers yet. The ones from Dunham seem to have been Farmers and mine seem to have been Farm Labourers.

I am a bit confused about when Wills were written and when the person died!!
On the 1841 census there is an eighty year old Elizabeth Dunger, a widow. Could she have been the wife of the deceased William in Robert's Will, 1847?

We don't know the parents of William who married Elizabeth Pickerill in 1804. The two families were probably connected, but another generation or two back.

The William mentioned in Robert's will was probably born about 1761 and died before 1847. My William was born about 1781 and was still alive in 1851. Does that seem correct? There were far too many William Dunger's. I will keep going back to the wills.

Hi

A will can be written years before death.  I made my will some years ago and I don't expect to make another one untill I have grandchildren, that could be several years yet!
Then, unless there is a change of circumstances, I won't make another one till I die.  That, I hope, will be a long while in the future.  You can see that wills can be proved twenty, thirty, or many more years after they were made.

The will of 1847, I haven't read it in detail, but it depends when it was made, it could mention Elizabeth of 1841 if it was made before she died.

I will have a look at the will of Robert again and see what I make of it, but you cannot presume ages from wills unless they specifically say that a child is under 21 and then it is talking about when the will was made and not when the will was proved.

It's like being a detective!!!

Hi Teddy
I have had great difficulty in attaching the relevant parts of Robert's will, 1847. I got an error message asking me to rename the file, I did about half a dozen times yesterday,it finally worked today. I will try the second part.
