Crosby Ravensworth in the Daily Telegraph!
« on: Sunday 25 November 07 16:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

My mum found an article in the Daily Telegraph mentioning Crosby Ravensworth entitled:

"England's historical roots 'found' in surnames".

It says that historical and geographical roots are in the end of surnames - with names ending in "son" showing northern roots, and similar surnames with "s" on the end indicating southern ancestry.
They discovered that nearly 60 per cent of northerners in villages such as Crosby Ravensworth and Patterdale had a "son" surname in the seventeenth century.

Google Daily Telegraph & then search for "Crosby, Ravensworth" to find the article.
