What am i doing wrong??
« on: Tuesday 27 November 07 16:11 GMT (UK) »
I am having real trouble finding a birth record When i try his name and date of birth on ancestry (have also tried fbmd) there is no record of him. Also why does ancestry not give you the year you are looking for but all years previous?
I know i have asked on here before but what else can i try to find him?

?

Sorry to be a pest

If he was born in 1922 then FreeBmd have only transcribed about 60% of the Jan-Feb-Mar ¼ and none of the others. On Ancestry you will have to select the Complete BMD Index ranges & Images 1837-1983 and search through the images of each quarter for Denys A Morris.

Also remember that the date of birth is given by the informant of the death and it could be incorrect.

As Stan has said you will need to check the full indices. If you haven't got access to Ancestry many are on FreeBMD, though not yet tranbscribed -  on the home page
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/
select "View Images"
As Stan put it

If you don't find him where you expect I'd try the same period in different years

Hi Jane.

Is it definitely Denys A?

There is a Denys O, mothers maiden name Davies (Q3 1923, Croydon) and a Denys H, mothers maiden name Stracey (Q3 1923, Croydon).

And also a marriage in Q3 1922 of Thomas W Morris and Ellen E Davies, Croydon.

Regards,

If you know of any siblings, names, then doing a search for their births may reveal the same mothers maiden name... which will add further weight to this being the correct birth.
