1861/1871 census look up please

Hi Rootchatters,

Can some kind rootchatter do a 1861/1871 census look up for me please.
I'm looking for a Walter Ronaldson born Darnick and Christina Harper born Edinburgh.I think they had a son Alexander born 1861 Edinburgh.Thanks in advance for any info received.

Found them on 1861, there seems to be some sort of dispute going on with the Gen. R$egistrars Office in Scotland, so although I can get the info, can not view the actual census record.

Parish: Edinburgh South Leith; ED: 51; Line: 4; Year: 1861.

Walter Ronaldson age 54  Born Darnick, Roxburgh
Christina "             age 36 born Biggar, Lanark
Walter      "    son  age 1 born South Leith, Edinburgh
Alexander   son age 1 month born   ditto


Family living at Duncan Court  25 Abbey Hill, South Leith

Can't find them on 1871 (found 1881 but presume you have that one)

Thanks for the info.    I'm trying to find them in 1881 census no luck just yet but found other members of the Ronaldson family.

No mention of Husband - although I cannot see all of record, Christina may be a widow??

Me again,

Just wondering about the 1861 and it saying Walter born 1807.  Its soooo annoying that I cannot view the actual census.  Just seems a little too old and I can't seem to see any one on the 1851 that would fit in with this.

I know its early days, but there is a Christina Forest born 1825 in Biggar, Lanarkshire on the 1851 census.

She is a cook/servant living North Frunt (Front??) Street, Biggar.  None of her own family with her.  May be if/when you can view the records properly you might want to remember her name and make a note of the census

It looks like them in the 1881 census Alexander was a Slater .Walter married Christina in 1858 it was his 2nd marriage.
Will make a note about Christina you never know if might of be her 2nd marriage also.

The Walter Ronaldson who married Christina Harper was born in Darnick which is now part of Melrose. I have now found another Walter with some interesting history.

I found that there is another Walter Ronaldson around the same area who was jailed for murdering his wife, is this the same person on his second marriage?
Walter Ronaldson marries Isabella Armstrong on 26 Jan 1823 Wilton Roxburgh and 14 Feb 1823 Melrose Roxburghshire, both extracted records, however cannot find any children.
At Edinburgh High Court, 15 May 1856, Walter Ronaldson, widower, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty - assault, Sentence: Imprisonment - 18 months. Note: Libel related to an assault by a man upon his wife, Isabella.  Pannel is to serve sentence in the general prison at Perth, with the first six months to include hard labour. Not much of a sentence he only got 18 months for murder.
