Do you know when his first wife died?  Just to narrow it down a little.

Hi Sheila

No I'm afraid I don't.

All I know is that Ellen was working in service.

Census 1901: Cowdray, Easebourne (near Midhurst) | Ellen West | Serv | 17 | House Maid Domestic | Sussex, Rackham.

She progressed to the position of governess.  She went with the family she worked for to Marseilles and had an affair with a French MP.  She then returned to the UK with a 3 year old daughter and ended up marrying Mr Priddle. She had a great fear of dentists and she more or less had to visit one because she had to have some teeth extracted and she died in the dentists chair under anesthetic.

I reckon BV Mary stands for "blessed virgin". Was it a Catholic churchyard?
THORNE in Stogumber/Williton, Somerset. VOWLES in Bristol. JOHN from Llancefyn, Pembs Wales, also Glamorgan. WILLMOTT (various spellings) from Bristol or Caerleon. CARTER from Clutton, Somerset. RESTON from Lancashire, Birkenhead. MORGAN from Islington, DAVIES from Pontypridd.

Hi Lavinia

I've no idea, but it is a plausible explanation.

That is very interesting and might explain why I cannot find a marriage for Ellen L West, although I have no record of her having married anyone other than Mr Priddle.  Your information has given me some food for thought.

If that is the 3rd marriage marriage of Henry G Priddle then I have information that Violet Priddle (nee Habberfield) is still alive in a care home near Isle Abbotts, so potentially I might be able to crack this one some way or another.

PS I just noticed this on the link you provided:-
