Presteigne Which Church
« on: Friday 31 December 04 19:04 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me the names of churches that were in
Presteigne around 1800 please?
From the I.G.I. found a marr.rec. for Thomas Meredith
to Elizabeth abt. 1802 at Presteigne. also states Toms
death 19th June 1848.
  I need Elizabeths maiden name.

In 1841  both living in Broad St. age 60 and born in county. Thomas was a sheriffs officer( perhaps some one
can enlighten on this)
Is there anyone who may have connections
to this family?

                        Regards
                                          Jacquelineve.

In those days the Sheriffs [and their officers] were responsible to hold prisoners awaiting trial, superintend executions, serve writs, raise the "hue and cry" for absconded felons and debtors and organize elections. 8)

Thanks to both of you for your help.

 Photos were great!

Do you know where the parish registers would be held?

                       Kind Regards
