I saw this listed on ebay
A classic Baskett Holy Bible dating from 1766, and conforming mainly to Herbert 1170, though without the reading 'strain out' in Matt xxiii, 24. The bible is in original reversed calf, complete and whole, with some rubbing to extremities, and some wear to head and heel of spine. The free front endpaper is missing. Bears the name of Samuel Preston, 1792, to the fixed front endpaper. There is a series of family names and dates throughout, as follows: Beneath the inscription on the front endpaper, another, beneath it reads (in the same hand) Samuel Preston, his book, 1797. The next noteable inscription can be found at the end of the Old Testament. It is a genealogical table, written at the time of the births and deaths noted in it. It names Elizabeth Preston, Samuel Preston, Mary Preston and numerous others, giving birth and death dates, and even times. There are 13 entries on this page. The next page of note is at the end of the Apocrypha. This reads: Samuel Preston and Eliz. Palmer were married April 21 1783. Eliz Preston departed this life April (? This is unclear, the writing appears to have been smudged by drops of water) the 20th 1829. For those involved in genealogical studies, this volume may be of great interest. The book is in GOOD PLUS condition, is clean and tight, in contemporary reversed calf, and is a very attractive item, A lovely 18th Century bible. TOBO ID 6592.
