Help required to identify Army Band. Originally believed to be SLI, but i am not sure that it is!

Has anyone got any ideas?

Hi

Their cap badges are not Somerset Light Infantry.  There is a coat of arms on the drum and possibly some writing.  One of the photo tweaking experts may be able to bring the detail up - I am not clever enough but I can see a quartered oval shield supported left side by a beast, whose head is obscured, and right side by a horse or perhaps a unicorn.

Good luck

I think we need to see a blow-up of one of the cap badges  :)

P.S.  You can see a Somerset Light Infantry cap badge at

On first glance I'd say something like the Suffolk regiment.

I don't know if you have the original photo Stevie, but by blow-up I mean a rescan at the highest reolution you can manage. As you've found, enlarging an existing image doesn't work!

I would agree with Neil as this being a Suffolk cap badge
