Can anyone help?
« on: Saturday 01 January 05 09:40 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone point me in the right direction to find out more about this family

1891 census living in Eastbourne Sussex
Isobella SEMPLE and her daughters
Louisa - 26
Frances - 23
Sara - 18

In 1893 Frances married Ernest Lancaster and her father is recorded as John SEMPLE Gentleman deceased

They are all recorded as being born in County Louth.
I have been unable to trace them any further back than 1891 and would really appreciate some advice.

A very Happy New Year to everyone and happy hunting!!

Jo

Jo,

You've probably seen this already, but just in case...

The LDS site shows a John Semple born in Louth on 21 Nov 1870. He's too young to be the deceased Gent, but looks to be a brother of the sisters. His father is shown as John Semple and his mother as Isabella Jane Burkley.

Plenty of other Semples to browse there too!

regards

Hi,

I would look for the three daughters births in the indexes. Post 1864 these are available at the Dublin GRo and  at your local family history centre. 1864 to 1866 births are in the IGI database at the familysearch.org and later ones can often be found in the British Isles BVRI Version 2.

Frances Semple was my great grandmother; married Ernest Clemmans Lancaster in 1892.  She and her two sisters were born in Dundalk, Co. Louth, father John Semple, mother IsabellaJane Buckley. Would like to tell you the little more I know but would firstly like to know who you are, since she only had one child, my grandmother, and her sisters remained unmarried.  John Semple died before Frances, Louisa, Sarah and their mother emigrated to England in the early 1890s.

I have just noticed that your message was posted in 2005 so maybe you have found out more by now, if so I would love to know.
