Coroner's Inquest records/newspapers
« on: Saturday 01 December 07 12:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I have just received the Death cert for my Grt-Grt Grandfather who died in 1918 in Wick (nr Yate), but in the informant's box it states the 'Coroner for Gloucestershire' and that an Inquest was held the day after his death.

Does anyone know whether I can access the inquest report and where I can view it. Also does anyone know what the local newspapers to the Yate area were at the time and where I could view them? as it is possible that I could find info there.

Any help is much appreciated

I don't know if Wick would have come under Gloucestershire or Bristol but I have been told that many coroners reports were destroyed in mid 1900s.
You could try Gloucestershire Archives to see if there is any information.
