Help to identify a name on a certificate

At the suggestion of dee I am posting in here looking for help to identify a name on a certificate which doesn't fit in with my previous conclusions regarding this person in my tree.

What I want to know is what do you see under Joseph Appleby
I think it says "Kathleen Schultz"

I also think it looks like Kathleen Schultz (but I have been known to be wrong - most of the time  ::) )

Looks like Kathleen Schultz to me too - it's pretty clear writing.  :)

I was hoping someone would see differently, everything else I have suggests her name is meant to be Kate O'Neill ... but I didn't think my eyesight was that bad  ;) ;D

Kate O'Neill or Kathleen Schultz? Possibly the same person if she changed her name for some reason. Did she marry or live with a Schultz at some time.

Maybe she changed her surname from being a German name to an Irish name. Then again maybe she had left home and didn't want to be found.

Most people who change their names will quite often keep their first name or a variant of it.

Kate could be Kathleen (or even Catherine as you say on your other post).

My first question would be - do any other people on your certificate match any of your family? If so then I would say it's more likely than not that she's the same person.
