Hi Liz

I have 2 certificates 1 birth of Elizabeth1868
2nd the marriage is under William George  Murray [/b]a mistake as when i got it
william george Murrell was on it .
I have never sighted a birth cert. of any other children.
Yes Francis and Brian (Barnabas )Devlin are mentioned in family trees sent to me.What i want to know is maybe there were 2 wives both Elizabeth.
                            Liz

Is this the marriage - but it is 1872 not 1876  Now is the certificate number the same as below?

1046/1872
MURRAY      William George
JOHNSTON     Elizabeth
District SYDNEY

Is it possible that Elizabeth had been married before and JOHNSTON is her married name, nee DEVLIN or perhaps it is the other way around :-\

I have the certificate in front of me with 1046 26th dec.1876.
yes maybe she could have been married before but it does say spinster age 38yrs . now if that is mearnt to be 1852 then that  would make her born in 1814 on her death cert 1919 it says she is 100 yrs and 8mnths. more confusing.
                                          thank you cando

Hi Liz :)

Now that is interesting because the index says 1872 - I wonder where the transcription error has been made?

Now the certificate says she is a spinster aged 38 years that means she was born in either 1838 married in 1876 or 1834 if the year of marriage was 1872.  Where does 1852 come from?

Have you her death certificate?  If so could you please post all the details on it - it may help us further.  Is this the one

1263/1919
MURRELL  Elizabeth
Father William
District Petersham

Cheers :)

Hi Liz

I am sorry Liz but I am at a loss to understand the reference to the year 1852.  What was the event in 1852?

Cheers

cando
please forget the 1852 and the whole mess mistakes were made throughout the whole family tree.
I am starting to think the family were not real truthful.
thanks anyway.

Hi Liz

I am sorry but I don't seem to be able to help you further  - I am wondering if you have a transcription and not the certificate of the marriage of William George MURRELL and Elizabeth JOHNSTON.  To have two different years for the same registration is a bit odd.

Liz
There is an 1826  NSW birth/baptism record for an Elizabeth Devlin, parents
Brian and Frances.  Do those parent names correspond with the names on the death certificate you referred to for Elizabeth Murrell (Devlin)?
Diana

I note that
1263/1919
MURRELL  Elizabeth
Father William
District Petersham

Different names on birth/baptism and death reg.

Liz if you could type all details of each certificate relating to the MURRELL/JOHNSTON/DEVLIN families it would be most helpful and perhaps we can help you further.

Cheers for now
Cando  :)

To all
this is a nightmare I want to forget this line it is very mixed up when I tried to get a look at the register I was refused by......cant really put any names. So certain persons have bought the rights to the BDM register original and now the public have to pay through the nose to get a copy and then I may get the wrong one so that is why I wanted to look first.I did offer to pay to look.

Hi GENE,
I do not think the rights to the BMD register have been bought, but using it correctly may be tricky at first., I agree.

There is no pressure whatever to continue your inquiry.

Perhaps at some future date you may consider re- reading the thread so far and answering some of the queries put by cando and me as we tried to get a start for you.

A reread and a rewrite may make a clearer picture ;)

All the best for now.
