Marriage of Elizabeth Harrington 1838
« on: Sunday 02 December 07 13:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Can anybody help.

The IGI indicates that Elizabeth Harrington married James Audley 1838, Diocese of Ossory, Leinster Province, Ireland.

Her Great Great Grandaughter believes that Elizabeth Harrington married George Audley.

Can somebody advise how I can get hold of a copy of the original record?
Can you also advise if I have posted this request on the wrong board?
Many Thanks for your help
Regards
Brian

Who submitted it to the IGI?

If it's an extracted record then you should be able to view the film at any LDS centre (order it in first though.)

Otherwise you'll have to search harder, and the record may be 'deduction' rather than written evidence.

Hi Pauline,
Many thanks for your comment.

On the IGI under source information it just states:
No source informtion is available.

I assume there is a record office somewhere in Ireland that I could write to for a copy of the original record. The problem is where is that record office?

What you need to read is this bit:
Messages:
Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter.

Pauline,

I don't understand your comment.
The entry is listed twice in the IGI and is not listed at all in the Ancestry file
Therefore forgive me but I don't understand the difference between what I wrote and:
Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter.

Submitted records are famously error-prone and often list events which do not appear in any written record.

Try searching the library catalog for that place-name and see if anything is listed to either corroborate or deny the submission.
You will have to order in any films to view at an LDS centre.

Hi Pauline,
I agree with your comments about the errors in the IGI.

The nearest LDS centre is only open when I am at work, so not easy to get there.

Hence I was trying to find the record office where the original document is held.
