Lawrence/Ewart Marriage
« on: Sunday 02 December 07 20:45 GMT (UK) »
I know this may be a longshot as I dont have a lot of information.
Looking for the marriage of a John Lawrence and Elizabeth Ewart abt 1840 in Londonderry, Co.Derry
They then left Ireland on the "Royal Consort" for Australia arriving Nov 1840.

I think Johns parents where John Lawrence and Carlotte ?
Elizabeths parents  David Ewart and Elizabeth ?

Any help at all would be great. Thanking you all for your time.

Regards
Christine

Hello Christine,

What denomination were the Ewart and Lawrence families?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
