Which Parish . . .
« on: Monday 03 December 07 11:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I would be interested to know whether anyone else has discovered this, or whether it is a common occurrence.

Recently, I chanced upon the marriage of Roger Comberbach to Margaret Salmon in Nantwich in Cheshire on the 12th June 1592.  The Comberbach family were merchants from Nantwich & the Salmon family, who were also merchants/farmers, originated from the neighboring parish of Audlem.  So whilst searching the Audlem parish registers I came across the same marriage.  All the particulars agreed with the Nantwich entry.  All this has causing me much confussion as I don't which parish they actually married in.  I'm assuming it's more likely to have been the bride's parish. But who
knows  ???

Has anyone one else found something similar?

Hello Jayson

Did they marry by Banns or Licence?

Maybe these were Banns entries and not marriage entries. This is common in Scottish marriage records pre-1855.

Hi Gadget

Lovely to hear from you again  :)

I'm afraid the entry didn't say anything more than "John Cumberbach & Margaret Salmon were married".  The Audlem register had exactly the same entry & date.

Jayson  ;)
