Origin of the name Steinfoord?

I wasn't sure where to put this.

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas about the origin of the name Steinfoord?
My 4x Grandfather was Woater Steinfoord, born c1836. When he came to Australia it seems he started using Walter Stanford/Stamford.

At this stage I believe he may have come from Holland, region???
Is the name Jewish perhaps?

hmmm I wonder if I can conclude that since there is only one entry the name is not a common one and therefore this man is perhaps related?

It looks like Steinfoord is a rare name, but Steinford is more common, and appears to be German in origin. It could be that Steinfoord is a Dutch variant. There is a death registration for a Rachel Steinford (born c1826) in the Sept ¼ 1896 Whitechapel, London, which was the area with a large Jewish population. In the 1961 London Telephone Directory there is an A.H. Steinford & Son, Diamond Setters, which will relate to Amsterdam re the diamonds.
