Hi Bertram

As there is one set of indexes for each Parish, of which there are 12,  that leaves a lot of lookups. Any chance that you have some more details (especially the Parish)?

Hi, St Helier was the Parish, did you discover anything on my previous querie regarding the Voivenels and jeanne Marie. they were also St Helier, Mount Coshon and Belazone Valley.

                                   Regards  Peter.

Hi Peter

I should have asked this the first time.

Can you elaborate on the initials? Also, can you indicate a period?

Unfortunately all the BMD records are paper and in the order they happened, not in alphabetical order. As much information as you can provide will help narrow the search.

Hi Stewart, Elizabeth.L. Lewis was my G,Aunt b 1881 Jersey, daughter of George Lewis and Leocadi Voivenel. She married H.Sanford about 1905.

Mr Mackin married Elizabeths sister Eva May b1899 about 1920.
Their were two other sisters Amelia. H. and Emma.L.
I would like to make contact with any existing relatives.

                                      Bertram/ Peter.

Hi Peter

First the good news.

I can see an index entry for the St Helier Registry Office for Amelia Harriet Lewis in the volume Nov 1903 to Apr 1906 on page 85.

I can also see an entry in All St's Church, St Helier, Jun 1907 to Apr 2002 on page 163, for Eva May Lewis. On the same page is Joseph William Mackin.

What I cannot find is a marriage for Elizabeth or Emma. I searched the St Helier indexes twice and all other Parishes once but no success. What is also noticeable is that there are no Sanford's in the 1901 census for Jersey (although there is one in Alderney, born France).

Hi Stewart, For the two marriages you found would it be possible for me to have the actual dates of the marriages.

                                      Peter.

Hi Peter

The Archive Centre only has indexes to the certificates. You then have to order a certificate to get the details. However in Jersey it is possible to go to the Registry Office and do a lookup and read the actual certificate. I can do this but it will be a few days. I really must get out and do some Christmas shopping!!
