Hi Pat,

Decided to go back to 1841 and follow the 2 William Spoors born 1823 Swalwell/Whickham.  I think the marriage you have for William & Isabella must relate to the family Carole found in 1861, Grocers, so possibly why we couldn't find William/Isabella prior to that. The William in the pair that were Grocers was born c.1827.  I think your William (from 1881) didn't marry til after 1871 census after his father died.

The one I think which is the one you found in 1881:

William Spoor b.19 Sep 1822 bapt. 25 Oct 1822 parents William/Catherine (IGI)

Hello Barbara! WOW!   :o  I owe you really big time!!!  These two Williams have been a thorn in my side ever since I started my roots quest many moons ago.  Positively fantastic how you sorted them out.   A big thank you from across the pond hardly seems adequate.  I hope some day,in some way, I can repay your kindness.  Again, a really big THANK YOU!!! ;D  Pat

Hello Barbara, Thanks so much for putting the "icing on the cake" by giving me the other Wm. Spoor family, too. They are all in my family tree - some branches and some twiglets. This all started when I got the death cert for an Isabella Spoor whom I assumed (ahem!) was my g-grandmother. This one wasn't, but it sure helped tie up lots of broken limbs out there!   ;D  Thanks again.   Pat
