WILLIAM TURNER, know of any?
« on: Thursday 06 December 07 01:35 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone knowledge of a William Turner of an age to have married in 1799 in Pattiswick, Essex?  I am looking for any William Turner, from anywhere in Essex.  Also I would be pleased to hear of any marriage of a William Turner who was of an age to marry around 1799.
I have already found a whole heap of baptisms and marriages on the IGI but I would like to make sure I consider all available Williams.  Marriages especially would be useful in order to discard as many William Turners as possible, prior to researching them.
I usually get over to the UK every second year but at the moment I'm not sure when my next visit will be.  What I'm trying to do in the meantime is streamline my William Turner research as much as possible.

I have researched and discarded the following William Turners:
William the son of Joseph & Elizabeth baptised at Lindsell 3 Apr 1777.
William the son of William & Mary baptised at Thaxted 21 May 1775.
William the son of William & Susannah baptised at Finchingfield  4 Aug 1771.
Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

Hi Rosemary,

Don't think it will be of use to you but here goes anyway, William Turner and Elizabeth Betts baptised a son William 2 April 1810 at Pattiswick, Essex and I'm afraid that's all I have on William junior.

Have you previously put a post on RootsChat regarding Henry William Turner?  If you haven't give it a try, you never know your luck!

Regards

Hi Rosemary,

Quite an eventful life for a thirteen year old kid!

Two places mentioned Bristol and Cheltenham are both in Gloucestershire, so I think you're unlikely to find him in Essex, if you haven't already done so, try a post on the Gloucestershire board.

Good luck

hi ya
i tried the cheltenham council they told me to go to the glost one,
they told me to go to another one, i was after homes in the area, i sent them the details too
we dont think the parents came from the area, but dumped him there prob so he could not find his way home
henry did well in the end think the trip made him grow up
he finished his time early on good behaviour married twice and had about 100 hectares of land in northern tassie, and was burried on his land, his son my mothers father was a policeman so he must have been strict with his children.
thank you so much for your help
cheers from downunder rosie
