My annual subscription for ancestory is coming to and end soon and I'm wondering whether to renew it or try another one?  Any recommendations folks?  :-\

My view is that with all its faults, ancestry still provides the best census coverage -  I also use thegenealogist which allows more alternative searches on surnames but is more expensive, and findmypast of course has the complete bmds but not the full census, so I actually subscribe to all three and then if I can't find something in one I can usually find it in another -

I subscribe to Ancestry and findmypast and I am waiting for findmypast to add the remaining census records.  I prefer findmypast and they are adding some really good records to the site, ie all the records that were on my other favourite site familyhistoryonline.

Snap with the other two.

For all it's faults A******y is pretty good. Findmypast and, now taken over, Family History Online are also good.

For Scottish records, www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk is essential really.

Ancestry is essential - its hard to see how the others will ever catch up.

OriginsNetwork.com as it has very useful Irish information

and of course the ever popular Genes Reunited.

I use Ancestry and findmypast. I find that findmypast is easier to use but unfortunately not complete for census records. Hopefully that will change with time as I would prefer to use the latter.

I'm like Barbara (also more money than sense! ;))
I'm subscribed to ancestry, which i use most of the time, the genealogist and find my past. Most of the time what you can't find on one you can find on the other. Although over 80% of my ancestors are Scottish, so ScotlandsPeople is a must for me.
I must admit though, although I'm also subscribed to GR, I've never searched their records.
