How can I identify Staff Nurse in WW1? - still looking

Hi

Would anyone know how I can identify a person from the information on a Great War of Civilisation Coin/Medal please?

I have her service number, her surname and that she was a Staff Nurse (S. Nurse). 

She doesn't appear on the medal cards site.  But I wondered if her Service number could be looked up???

What department would have given Staff Nurses medals?
Any information would be great.
