Shame, I didn't see this posting this morning for some reason, as it may get a mention in this book, available at Bedford reference library and in the BFHS library.

Unfortunately many of the earlier registrations do not quote the flavour of non-conformity.

The earliest mention in the book quoted by John, of Baptist in Toddington is 15 Oct 1851, but there is no detail, nor is there any mention of William Woods

Hi Kaye
Have you seen this snippet on the Blars site which mentions William Wood?

http://tinyurl.com/22lu8m

Also if you search the catalogue at

http://tinyurl.com/yre6en

using the combined search and entering Toddington as place and Baptist as subject there is reference to an 1856 history of baptist meeting places including Toddington

Jan ;)
