Having a Google - I'd guess that William Taft must have been an employee of the Blount family of Mawley Hall and two of the children must have been baptised there. Perhaps he might be mentioned in any estate papers (if they survive) ?

Interesting!  8)

That first 1763 christening at St Mary Mawley Hall was indeed that of a Blount!  I'm not sure what William did for a living at all ... great lead! Thanks!  :D

I see that the two children christened in Mowley Hal also have the birth dates whereas all the others don't. Wonder if there had been any problems with the births of these two babies hence the rapid christenings?

Hello Jean  :)

It seems the priest at Mawley Hall did his job well - birth dates neatly recorded on all the christenings  8) Maybe my James was a frail baby indeed - in which case little did the parents know he'd live to be 80+ years! :D
