HI Lynn,
I found mine in the local/County Record Office.  But not all schools have deposited them  :'(
Give your local Record Office a ring, or sometimes you can search their holdings online.  Some of them may be closed because I think there is a 30 or 25 year rule on access. I found mine back to 1956/8 up to I think about 1970ish. :)

Who did you ask at the school- someone in office?, principal?, etc. I know the principal in my children's primary school had old registers in her office which secretary didn't know about.
If the school doesn't have them try whatever Education Board they come under. Since you are looking for 'recent' records they might not have made it to a Records Office yet.

1964 is fairly recent Lynn.

When did the school for which you require the records open it's doors?

I hope they haven't been destroying valuable records.

I aksed in the office. She made me wait for ages, only to tell me they didn't go back that far.

The school has just celebrated it's 50th anniversary this year, it seems such a short time to get rid of then.

                                 Thanx.

You need to be aware that the school or local authority will probably be sensitive about letting you see their records. My wife got access to school records after proving identity, stating the reason for her research and stating her relationship to the person she was looking for. This was to look at records going back many years.

Surely though if there were any issues regarding data protection they would have been expected to make that clear?

I can't remember the details re getting access to the records. I imagine that the Education Dept of the local authority was just being ultra cautious in these days of sensitivity to personal information. I am just pointing out that finding the records may not be the only barrier to be overcome!
