McNALLY FAMILY
« on: Sunday 02 January 05 01:54 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for information on the following families from Cootehill/Drumgoo, County Cavan:
McNALLY
McCANN
VOGAN
HOLMES
These families all left County Cavan circa 1825 and moved to Eastern Ontario, Canada - specifically RUSSELL/PRESCOTT Counties in Ontario.  I have information on each of these families in Canada but would like to learn more about them In County Cavan and also connect with others who are doing similar research.
Thanks

Hi SuePhil,
You almost got it right with drumgoo, cootehill
It is drumgoon, cootehill, see  www.drumgoon.com
There are still lots of Mc Nally, Mc Canns and Vogans in the parish. There are no Holmes around but that name is common enough in the midlands, eg laois. there are 2/3 vogans, 5/6 mc nalls and 7/8 mc cann families around. None of them have canadian relations that I know of but way back obviously had John and Jim are common first names in all 3 families and sometimes thses carry though. Please post a reply if you want more info.
Tom.
