George & Isabella GLEDSON - Pre-1881 Census
« on: Thursday 13 December 07 06:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I am looking for any census details about George Gledson (b 1798 Hartley) and his wife Isabella (b 1806 Blyth). In 1881 they were living at Glebe Row, Bedlington. Would particularly like to know any details about children. Thankyou.

Hi Printer,

1871 census:
RG10/5165; Folio: 71; Page: 52

Northumberland, Bedlington
Glebe Row

George Gledson, h, mar, 71, Coal Miner, b. Earsden
Isabella, wife, 67, b. Easden
John, son, 27, b. Bedlington
Isabella, dau, mar, 23, b. Newcastle on Tyne
Sarah E, 2, b. Bedlington

All born in Northumberland, it has been pencilled in roughly 'no occ.' near John's occupation, from what I can gather?

Regards,

Just to help, and before I look for the 1841 .. Earsdon and Hartley are both in the same vicinity Printer!

Plus .. in 1851 George is indexed as Gladson.

I had to look twice at the fact that young George was really a Coal Miner aged 7 .. isn't that quite shocking .. .. ..

Tomkin started this thread, I don't know if you have noticed it .. about children working in the mines.
