Does this read Jozia or John?
« on: Thursday 13 December 07 23:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone

I have a bit of a puzzler.

From a baptism record this name was transcribed as John but checking the original I think it's definately not John.

Help please

Hi

I think it looks like Josia- a variant of Josiah. It has the old looped s.

Added - example of the 'long s':

Hi everyone

Wow thanks so much, that was fast!

I think that proves you can't trust transcriptions, as we all know.
