Have you got his war medals? There should be an army number engraved on the edge, along with his name and regiment.

Unfortunately I don't have his medals.  I have downloaded info as suggested but as far as I can see it doesn't tell me anything about him.
Melia, Parsons, Weir, Farquhar, Cope, Storey

No Ditsy, the medal card is not very revealing is it (whichever DLI George Parsons it is). The trouble is, you don't know until you buy it.

His WW1 service records may have survived but until Ancestry complete their upload that will require a trip to the National Archives.
