1730's-40's birth: Robert WEALANDS
« on: Wednesday 19 December 07 18:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi all.

I have a Robert WEALANDS who I know had 6 children in Monkwearmouth between 1765 and 1778 with a Margaret (I have not been able to find the marriage though).

I am trying to find any possible birth/baptism records for this Robert WEALANDS. It is likely in Monkwearmouth but could be further afield.

I appreciate that there are many variations on the spelling of WEALANDS such as WIALANDS, WHELANS, WHELANDS etc.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

The parish records for Monkwearmouth were destroyed by fire in the early 1780s - any records you find online are a reconstruction from the Bishop's Transcripts and from the parishoners going back to the church with baptismal certificates etc.

It may be that the marriage took place there and is lost.
