James Faulkner & Family
« on: Saturday 22 December 07 11:32 GMT (UK) »
My 5 x grandfather James Faulkner died Qld Aus so have good info from Qld death cert, place birth as Newport Pagnall BKM 1824 and his parents names.  He is there in BKM 1841 census with father John in Silver St Newport Pagnall - no mother present.

Had no luck till I tried BDF and I found what I believe are his parents marriage John & Elizabeth (nee Burrows) Faulkner in Cranfield BDF on the IGI extracted from parish records.

Any suggestions on where to go next?  I have found possible brothers & sisters on the IGI (working on possibility that James’s children’s names might be same as family members) but how do I go about proving it is my family?  And if family members were not born in either BDF or BKM where else nearby is likely?  Any suggestions what to do next?

Thanks Liz  ;D

You may be on the right track as I have this in 1851...

  Newport Pagnell Silver St    HO107/1723 F 408 P 22

John Faulkner  hd m 67  Sawyer Cranfield
Elisabeth Faulkner wife m 67 lacemaker Cranfield

Cranfield is close to Newport Pagnell and Newport would be the biggest town nearby to move to with more trade and markets

Thats excellent.  My James was a Sawyer in Aus too

I thought maybe Elisabeth may have been dead, so that's food for more thought!  Wonder where she was in 1841?

Thanks for the help

Liz :)

   Hi Liz......

Well cannot see her anywhere clearly in 1841 but she's still around in 1861, I think her death maybe q4 1861 Newport Pagnell.

 1861 Newport Pagnell North End RG9/873 F 32 P 5

North End Newport Pagnell

John BURROWS  hd m 44 millers foreman beds Cranfield
Mary                   wi m 51                          bucks Newport Pagnell
 Eliza M             dau u 21 dress maker        "   "     "    "     "    "
 Sarah A           dau u 17 domestice servant         "    "      "    "
 SusanE           dau u 14                                       "     "      "    "
ELIZABETH FAULKNER AUNT W 77 PAUPER  BEDS CRANFIELD.

So that matches the Faulkner /Burrows marriage.

                 Tazzie

Newport Pagnell marriage 1839 John Burrows to Mary Fossey.

I have Fossey in Husbourne Crawley again not too far away!

Wow! Good sleuthing!  So John must have died 1851-1861 period.

Well that answers a good part of the proof question.  Now to work out how the famillies were structured.

Thanks so much Tazzie!

I've checked the CDrom which is much clearer. It's Wm and Emily Stock, who married in Carlton in 1834 (Amelia Halett), so no obvious connection to Elizabeth Faulkner.

I can't see Elizabeth in 1851, nor is there a burial of an Elizabeth Faulkner in Carlton 1841-51.

Thank you all so much for looking for her.

I suppose one day she will turn up somewhere, where I least expect it.

I wouldn't necessarily rule out the one Jan found. It would take more research to eliminate her
