Places of Birth Records Germany-Austria
« on: Sunday 23 December 07 16:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

On the advice of Berlin Bob to post here (thanks).

I wondered if you could direct me if at all possible to finding out more
information about some WW1 dead  birth places who
originated from Germany and Austria.

I do not know of any bmd sites for either country.

T.I.A.

Hi Sandy,

there aren't all that many sites with names in Germany or Austria.  Usually you need to know where they came from, and then apply to their registry offices.

Perhaps you can post the names here, then we may be able to localise them better.

Hello Sandy,

I don't quite understand what you are looking for. Do you want to establish the birth places of some men killed during WWI?

These two websites may be use.

http://www.denkmalprojekt.org/en_search.htm

This next site is equivalent to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Unfortunately, you may find it impossible to use unless you understand German. There are birth dates and places for SOME of the men.

Please post the names as Bob suggested.
