I do some transcribing for FreeBMD and have a password access to the scanned pages you are, I think, talking about.

Have a look at the website and consider registering to do a bit of transcribing [easy and interesting work] and you will be given a password to allow you to search their scans both already transcribed and still to be done.

In my humble opinion, best facsimile version of the original (to search by year and quarter from 1837 to 1983) is still Find My Past, who used to be 1837online and won the Queen's Award for Innovation for it!!!

Ancestry is good for various things but their version of the BMDs is rubbish.

Well squirrel, I wouldn't say rubbish because they are mostly OK-ish but I agree with you that Findmypast's versions are much better.

They'd been involved with BMDs much longer than Ancestry though. Originally they were produced for legal work (and thus a need for accuracy) , I think, and then decided to go public/commercial.

Good morning all

Thanks very much for all the replies....I think I must have had some sort of "mental block" as it was "find my past" that I had and lost not Ancestry.

Gadget....can you send me the bmd link for Ancestry please :D :D

Thanks again
