Derrylass and Catherine.

Thank you.

Why did Fr Toner in the 1901 census not say Ellen was related?

I see when she was with her sister Grace Lafferty in census of 1911 she was not mentioned either as sister in law to head of house, but, general servant.
Poor woman.

I will try and get a birth record for Ellen just to make sure she is mine.

I see Mary Toner moved in with another brother by 1911 and two McMonagle nephews are living in the same house.

I'm sorry I cannot remember the story of My Mc Mononagle's, but there was a second marriage, Drogheda and America  mentioned.

I have been collecting my info since 1990.  But I do not think I will ever get back to ADAM.  GERGER.

When I posted the obituary details for James Toner I never really thought I'd get a response but I am amazed that so many people have chosen to become involved.  Thank you very much.

It goes to show that each of us has a detail of information that if given will help in someone's research.

I have two more obituaries from the very kind researcher in Letterkenny and I'll just add them to the mix.

1) Rev. Patrick McDevitt P.P. d. September 1913

Chief mourners:
Mrs. Houston, Kirkstown (sister)
Mr. Neil Toner, Letterkenny (nephew)
Mrs. Toner, Letterkenny (niece)
Mr. Hugh McKendrick, Kirkstown (nephew)
Mrs. McCarry, Hotel, Letterkenny (cousin)
Kate Harkin, Ellen Harkin and Annie M. Heaver, Kirkstown (nieces)
Peter Toner, Kirkstown (nephew)

2) Rev. Peter McDevitt P.P. Carrick d. 25 Oct  1905

Messrs. Jas. and Michael McDevitt, Glenswilly (brothers)
Miss M.E. McDevitt (niece)
Hugh, Peter and Michael McDevitt (nephews)
Rev. Jas. Toner C.C. Drumoghill (cousin)

The funerals for James, Peter and Patrick were mega huge affairs. There were so many members of the clergy that it was overkill. I didn't realize that the Catholic Church was so political in the day but I guess they were. There are I'm sure some significant political people who attended all three funerals.

Interestingly enough P.T. (Peter Toner) McGinley was at all three funerals. If you don't know who he is...google  ;D

Do you know where Grace Mcgettigan  (m Daniel Lafferty) was in 1901. Her location may be another clue

There is a Grace McGettigan who is a boarder in the household of Paul Dunleavy, Glenties Town (Gortnamucklagh Portion).

There is a note under the Lafferty family of Creeslough that she was from Drumroosk, Killymard.

Grace was born in  Drumroosk, 1883.

I don't know where Grace was in 1901.

When you say Grace was a boarder with Paul Dunleavy, I presume that was 1901.

I had a look, and thanks to you I think I also found her brother.  Thomas, a boarder aged 21 and a railway porter.  He married a local girl Mary Gallagher from Kilraine. Had three children and died in 1907. His father mentioned him in his will of July 07, when he was leaving  five pounds each to the 4 of them. She moved back to parents for 1911 census.  Gerger.
