Yes  it was proved,My G.Grandfathers 1841 birth in accrington was looked up for me by the member.I then sent for his Birth cert giving the correct mothers Maiden name of Lawson, not Sanson as on the cert.Which i received it no problem :)Thats another thing i just remembered.When i first got G.Grandfathers Marriage cert i sent for his birth cert with the Maiden name on his Marriage cert.My request was sent back with the message.The information given does not match :(

Hi Celia

Absolutely agree that the name is incorrect - BUT the certificate may be correct as per the information given at the time of the marriage. I know people now, who do NOT know their mother's maiden name  :-\  :-\  seems strange to me - but not at all to them.  So it may be that the wrong information was given to the registrar, either by your g grandfather or by the preacher. It is never too late to check with SP that the information given is correct.  :)

Presumably the one you sent to Scotland for - am I right Gadget?

about three years or more ago,i sent to Scotland for a Marriage cert of my G.Granfather who lived and worked in Lancashire all his life.
I sent direct to Scotland for the Marriage cert.

I presume you want the bit says
Name,Surename and Rank or Profession of Father

Name  And Maiden name of Mother (My G.Grandfathers parents)

ms Sanson    Now crossed out ::)and replaced with Lawson :)
