Thanks for that suffolk*sue ;D ;D ;D ;D

You`ve certainly made the debate even more interesting :) Everything ties up nicely ;D ;D ;D ;D

The only "Spanner in the works" is the mention on Edwards marriage certificate of fathers name and surname which is listed as William Parfrey (deceased) or would this have been done to "Keep face" :-\ :-\ :-\

Really appreciate your keen interest and help. ;D ;D ;D

Many thanks Steve

It could have been done to save face. I am sure many an illegitemate person invented a parent for the purposes of respectability.  On the other hand maybe William Palfrey was his grandfathers name. It would be interesting to see who Sarahs parents are. :D

Because I don`t know who Edward Parfrey`s "Real" father was I obviously don`t know who his grandfather was :( :( :( :( :( which makes my search equally frustrating :( :( :(

Is there anyway to find out who Sarah`s parents were :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Livermere doesn't appear to be on the IGI, so unless someone is going to Suffolk Record Office and could look for you.
Not sure when I am going again. :'( :'(

Just found a mention of a birth and christening on Family Search website for Sarah Palfry

Birth             19th May 1809
Christening    21st May 1809  Livermere. Suffolk.

Parents listed as Edward Palfry and Sarah Baldwin

Could this be Edwards mother?????

Hi Steve,

Just stumbled upon this post - as someone already suggested your Edward Parfrey might have been a Palfrey.  If so, there was an Edward Palfrey baptised in 1825 in Little Livermere - he was the son of William Palfrey (which would tie in with the marriage certificate information) and Sarah (nee Cocksedge).  I know the birthdate is off by seven years, but it's worth bearing in mind :)

I'm actually descended from this Palfrey family; William and Sarah's third child was my 3x great-grandfather George, and he had a son (also confusingly named Edward) who was the father of my great-grandmother Helen.  All were born in Little Livermere, so if you ever find that you're definitely related to the Palfreys of this area, please drop me a line :)

Hi Becky,

Many thanks for taking the time to reply and all the details enclosed :) :) :) :) :)

Done a little research and could only find 1 Edward Palfrey ( about 1825 ) in 1861 and he was married to Louisa and had son Edward. H. Palfrey.
Whereas "My" Edward Parfrey in 1861 ( about 1832 ) had already married Ellen Mary and was living in Walpole St Peter with their four children.

I had to use 1861 as this was the first and nearest comparison I could make :)

If this is correct then unfortunately the search goes on :o It would have been great if "Your" Edward and mine were one and the same,we could have exchanged details and stories :) :) :) :)

I`ll carry on researching and get back to you if I have any success.

Many thanks again Becky for your response to my post and the details provided.
