Had a reply back from Devon Record Office who I contacted on Saturday as Arranroots suggested, unfortunately no helpful marks on either record.   :-\ :-\  They were very quick in replying  :)

I think I am going to have to try and trace other Samuels and Jane or otherwise if they exist.
