webb & pearse marriage
« on: Friday 04 January 08 19:14 GMT (UK) »
i wonder if any-one may have any details on a marriage between, thomas webb and sarah pearse 24th sept 1871 at ongar, essex.
his father is listed as thomas webb a licensed hawker and hers is john pearse a licensed hawker. the marriage is witnessed by levi webb and ann pearse ( X marks the spot)
i have, in my family tree, quite a few sarah and thomas webb's so its getting harder to decide who or which are the correct ones, as not to much info on them for these dates.
hope some-one can shed some light.
is ''pearse'' a romany name then???? thanks for any response.
amanda.

at a local church near to me is a grave, which headstone reads, ''pearse family graves''. i do not know how to find out who is in the grave or how many

hello again redred 28
thanks for that, i am just having a look through now.

theres some very interesting names on that site for everyone with travelling families, as there are census lists and pedigree charts for other romany families. very interesting. im sure others will find it useful to.
:)
thanks for your help.

I've found instances of the name Pearce - sometimes Peace - in Hertfordshire travelling families such as the Drapers and Smiths in the mid 19th century. They travelled into Essex too where you'll find them in and around Eastwood.

Also, there was a Thomas Webb (baptised 1831 in Burwell, Cambs) who married into the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire Shaw family. His baptism was on the same day as Cornelius Smith, the father of 'Gipsy Smith' - and that family had close associations with the Epping area.

hi sharon,
any ideas on what i can search/look up to see these ''webbs'' and ''pearse'' travellers. locally i can find nothing and i am unable to get to records office at the moment (due to op. its getting quite frustrating sitting here and not being able to get to the library and so on. lol)
this pearse family grave has headstone with a ''sarah livermore'' on it and one of my webb ancestors apparently re-married a livermore so its interesting to know where the pearse name comes in and why she is in it ???
cant remember what ''draper'' name you said you were researching, was it mizella or something similar??

Hello,

I am struggling to find anything on them and i know they got married.
