Stoney - is their a birth cert or a marriage record or another census record for this young lad?

I've looked on Scotland's people but can't find the family in the 1851 census, although I 've been informed that John Purdon, father, died 1865. (from someone else who had looked at the death register).

As I can't be sure of the spelling of the "M" child, it's a wee bit difficult to track him down!
