Hi everyone,
I used the Genealogy Centre at the Craft Village regularly through the internet.
Just before Christmas I applied for a marriage certificate and about week later I received an email from the Centre:
_____________________________________________________
I have been instructed by the Derry Genealogy Centre to offer you a full
refund for the order below. The service being offered by Derry
Genealogy has
been suspended until further notice. The reason for this is the
withdrawal
of support by the Inner City Trust who have funded this centre for the
past
number of years. Discussions are ongoing with the Derry City Council to
step
in and take over the management of the centre with financial assistance
but
the outcome of these deliberations will not be known until the New
Year.
We apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience this has caused but the
matter is out of our control. Please check the website for updates in
relation to the Derry Centre as we will post any new developments as
soon as
they come to our attention.
Your refund will be automatically effected immediately so please check
your
next staement to ensure this has been received.
Best Regards,
Kellyann Mc Grory
Project Administrator
Irish Genealogy Ltd.

I would advise anyone looking for certificates to order them from
www.groni.gov.uk as they are cheaper than Derry Genealogy by about £2! And if you don@t know the details of the certificate you can always check Derry Genealogys index for the details and then apply at the GRO.
The GRO also search thoroughly for the record if it cannot be found and are quite prompt at sending the certificate.
Hope that helps,
Oisín
