googling seems to be to be the age of consent in Canada was 12 until 1890 when it was raised to 14.

addition: This needs to be found by several who refuse to believe that the older person in the household is the grandmother as it would have meant she'd had her first child at 15....Wow, it could have happened by 13 for some of these... Tough little ladies...Canada is just recently considering raising the age of consent to 16...
