 Hi Barbara,

I thought it was the Nineteenth March but not absolutely sure,  :-\
I could not make out Woolston at all,  :o
got the bit in the middle and knew he was a coast guard but was unsure about the pensioner, (he was only 41 - seemed a bit young!)

:-\ I think you are right it looks like Hunts Road

Thank you for your help.

Thought it was an odd name, here's a bit about the Parish of St Mary Extra

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=41974

haven't read it all, maybe it will help with Hunt's or Kent's road,

Crystal

His occupation was coastguard AND pensioner, ie Naval Pensioner. Have you seen his Navy service record? If not, I can have a look at it for you tomorrow.

Cheers

Hello Mean_ genie

Many thanks for your reply and kind offer.  8)

All I know is - 1861 Census - night of 7 April, he was on board HMS Renard at Chefoo (unconfirmed).
August 1869 on daughter's birth certificate his occupation is described as Seaman, HM ship Victory, address given 73 Lucknow Street Fratton Portsea.
1871 census - on board HM Brig Cygnet at Chichester Sussex, occupation coastguard.

So, no I have not seen his naval record as such and would be grateful for any more information.  :)

I have had an exciting weekend searching for information about his father Paris William Augustus Bradshawe  who I have found out was born in Cude East Indies and was a colonel in the Army and his father Paris Bradshawe who was a Lieutenant- Colonel 1798-1816 East India Co. Political agent in Nepal died abt 1848.
So my search on poor Thomas kind of went on the back burner. I am more used to Ag Labs and gardeners !!

Kind regards Crystal  :)
