Hi there,

There's been no Stanley's as yet, or any any links to a Stanley, sorry I can't be more help. I will be sure to give you a shout if i do come accross any though.

P.s. I'm assuming you are aware of the place in Suffolk called Thurston? perhaps that could have somehting to do with it?
P.p.s. What a lovely middle name!  ;)

Hi there!

I'd never heard of the place called Thurston, no.  I'll look into that.

The closest I've come is the fairground ride makers called Stanley Thurston....

One day I'll find it out.
East London:
Happe/Hoppe (St. Georges in the East)
Stanley (middle name Thurston)
Rondeau (Spitalfields and Salford)
Jones (Bishopsgate - Thomas, Ostrich Feather Manufacturer)
Wood (London City)
McDermott (Londonderry and Stepney)
Upcraft (Bethnal Green)
Chidgey (Shoredtich)
Grim (Bethnal Green)
Row (Mast makers in Wapping)
Spurden (Stepney and Pancras)
Glibbery (Bishopsgate)

There's also the Thurston snooker table makers http://www.thurstonsnooker.co.uk/, the famous magician, and of course Thurston the bakers!

Although that last one may have been just a northern thing and pretty sure it's bust by now!  :'(
