I would be very grateful for details of any Emisons, probably from Portlaw Co. Waterford, especially prior to 1840.

I do not expect there to be many references.

Hello Andrew,

It's a vague thread but my G.Grandmothers name was Emerson and my Dad told tales that she was from Ireland. Before her marriage in 1875 to my Gt grandad, I can find no trace of her. Her marriage cert shows her father as Robert, his occupation as Cab Proprietor. if you find any links let me know.

Found the following might be of interest. From St. John's Priory Graveyard, Waterford City, Headstone William Emerson 1771. And from the Waterford Chronicle Tuesday 12th February 1771, Died on sunday morning at Johnstown, Mr. William Emerson Junior.
