Thats really great news Heather. I think we have all been touched by this very sad story and hopefully a member of her family will come forward. I think they might find it hard to do after all the publicity about her, but she will not be the only one alone so maybe it will make others think as well. Well done for your help and im sure all our thoughts are with her.

Heather

The Rev.Lonsdale was on a Radio 2 programme at lunchtime today and she said she'd had an e-mail from someone from a genealogy chat site, or words to that effect.  Typically the Daily Mail upgraded that to a genealogist in Vancouver.

Sue - seems my theory was correct (if you can believe the quote in the Daily Mail), she stayed at home to care for her parents, although the brother of her friend thought she had a proposal of marriage but didn't accept because of her parents.

Never believe half of what you see in print cos you never know which half is the truth ;D ;D ;D ;D

I just had an email from Akash Lonsdale thanking everyone for our interest - unfortunately she wasn't able to open the link to rootschat so I copied KarenM's info and mentioned the grandparents in case that helps.  Such a nice lady - many would not have bothered.

Olive was born Swindon Sept qtr 1924, daughter of Ernest George Archer and Martha Blake, her sister Lilian was born Swindon Mar qtr 1916.
Ernest Archer and Martha Blake married Sept qtr 1914 in Swindon.

There is an Ernest G Archer born 1889 in the district of Highworth vol 5a page 12 - Ernest is not shown in the 1891 or 1901 census.

Olive's sister Lilian L Archer married Edgar F Stevens Dec qtr 1943 Swindon vol 5a page 21.

There are 2 sons born to Blake and Stevens, ** - possibly the son's of Lilian and Edgar.

Shouldn't the maiden name of the mother be Archer instead of Blake for the two boys?

I believe hiraeth found Ernest in school in 1901 ! ...... or am I losing the plot here ?? ... that's easy enough for me to do !!  ::)

Do you think you'll be able to find family in time for the funeral Chris ? wonder if they'll cover it in the papers ..... I'd like to see there was a big "turn out " !!

I'll be lighting a candle that day !

Hi CJOYCE

Welcome to rootschat.   Thank you for posting the information about Olive's family.  I'm a bit worried though about privacy issues - with the best will in the world perhaps we are in danger of publishing details of people who are still alive and that is normally against RootChat policy.    Those kind of details are usually only sent by PM.  Is there a moderator for the Common Room on "duty" to make a decision on this??
