I have a difficult to read marriage certificate which I think states 'Residence at time of marriage' Brickauger?? Westbury.

Can anyone shed any light please?

Could it be the name of a House/property? Was the wedding date near a census - could this be checked for where they were living?

Hi Trish,

The marriage was 1884.  In 1881 the bride was in the Westbury Workhouse and in 91 they are living in Edington.

Here's the part that's puzzling me.

My trusty 1957 Road atlas comes up trumps again :D

Googling Birchanger Wiltshire - seems it's only a farm. Worth checking out

Put Westbury Wiltshire in search engine then keep clicking on top right hand corner till Birchanger comes in to view

The gentleman concerned was a farm labourer so it's possible he was employed at Birchanger Farm.  I can't think of a way to prove it though.

I would think it likely he was working there, living in one of their cottages. Where is he in 1881?
