I have the Dalgleish family arriving as assisted British immigrants in October 1855.

Elizabeth Dalgleish (Ballantyne) 40
Agnes 3
Alexander 17
Betsy (Elizabeth) 8

Jessie 16
Margaret 12
William 6

Of these children I have confirmed that all but William, Helen and Jessie. Could be nieces and nephews???

Am missing 3 of their children, James, Janet and Samuel.

They were listed in the 1851 Scottish census as living as a family

Could people please check to see what happened to the family who arrived in Victoria.
I have the details of the daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) who was my ancestor. But wanted to track down the rest of them.

I can't seem to find any deaths in Victoria with father William Dalgleish and mother Elizabeth Ballantyne......and can see no further births to this couple.

Do you know the parents of William  and Elizabeth? That may be a help.....

I have the Scottish parish records of William Dalgleish and Elizabeth Ballantyne's marriage. 28/6/1833 in Dalkeith Scottland. No record of their parents on this registery though. Unfortunately searching through the Scotlands People database has shown me many William Dalgleishs and Elizabeth Ballantynes that I can's for certain narrow down their parents.

I have most of the baptismal records for their children and one death certificate of a 2 month old who died maybe a week or so before they boarded the boat to Victoria.

I have a record of William Dalgleish dying on 3/9/1878 in Symesdale, Victoria

Dalkeith is the area they are from, so sounds right.

The only death of a William Dalgleish in 1878 on the Index is for a 3 week old William John Dalgleish in the district of Scarborough. Father also William John, mother Elizabeth Mary James. Ref = 9858

Double checked all deaths with mother as Ballantyne from 1836 to 1985 and not one shows up.....

Mmmmm maybe I have the wrong family.........

I am trying to verify some information that my Dad gave me.

He has another possibility of Elizabeth being Brown not Ballantyne.

Could you try that please??

I just did the same Wm death check Dee but I think you will find that SCAR is Scarsdale - it is in the same area as Smythesdale.

I think I have found my mistake

2 elizabeth Dalgleish/Dalgiesh born in 1847 to a William and an Elizabeth.
