Hi Daisypetal
Thanks for the sites, from the 1 photo I recently had sent to me by a new found 2nd cousin it certainly looks like him. I think he was named after his Uncle who was killed in ww1.

Looks like Horace c Sore came home to England at least in the 1970/80's

Now where do I go ????

I have an address but is it still there>>> Purliegh Hall Cottages Maldon.

I would write but chances are Horace is long gone or the Cottages are :-\  I don't mind if the letter is returned I just don't want it goin nowhere.  If you know what I mean.

:) :) Merry Xmas rootschatters & may all your rellies find you  :) ;)

Hi coppernob

Your Purleigh Hall cottages are they in Maldon or in Purleigh its self. As there is a parish website for Purleigh.

http://www.purleigh.com/ParishCouncil/

http://www.maldon.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/898EFAEB-5541-4177-A1B8-DF4ECE96BF2E/10047/Purleigh_Draft1.pdf

might be worth trying to contact them to see if the cottages are there.

regards
ricky

Hi  Ricky1
Thanks for that the address was purleigh hall cotts maldon essex,   but I did wonder whether now it would be just essex.    I was also looking for Cromwell Lane and have found that -- well the lane anyway altho' I don't have a number so I wouldn't know if the house is still there.

What it is this family history lark :) :)

Thanks very much for the info   & Merry Christmas  ;D ;)

Erm Can't find where I originally posted a request about Purliegh Cottages Maldon. And a Gt Aunt & Uncle who lived there.
Someone   suggested I contact Maldon TIC for info on both.   So I did & the cottages are still there,  Helen from the tic also did a bit of research for me & found some people with the surname I was looking for.  After writing to all of the people mentioned & enclosing a sae, I had a reply from one of them on Saturday     my gt uncle's son wow!!
I had found him and he was very interested in what I had found out on the family.  I have now spoken to them on the phone & have been invited to go to see them.   What a delight I have in store.

SO A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED ME FIND A PART OF MY FAMILY.  WHAT A LOVELY NEW YEAR GIFT.
