Titanic Question......
« on: Friday 11 January 08 23:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

Ive just been watching a programme on Discovery Channel about the Titanic and I would just like to know if anyone can tell me whether all the ships artifacts have got any sort of government protection on them to stop anyone from just diving down and nicking a few plates or saucers etc...

Thanks

Jane

Hi Ricky......How are you!!!!!

Thanks for the link its just what I wanted.....What got me thinking about it was the other day I was watching Flog it and these two old tiles sold for £2000 and on the Titanic Programme a camera went into the Turkish Bath section of the ship and there were these beautiful coloured tiles in mint condition on the wall that must be worth an absolute fortune.

Thanks again mate

Jane

PS...Hope Mrs Ricky is well..

I think i must be an odd person ;D but the thought of people making lots of money out of anything that came from the most tragic and unexpected event. The sinking of the Titanic, leaves me cold :(.Articles then get sold on to people with to much money.I could never even touch anything that was on that ship, even if i did find any original papers in among family documents. That were connected to the Titanic
it would go straight to the Maritime museum,Sell it never.
I cant even walk over the length of a grave with no headstone,i have to walk round it. ;D

The people who disburbed the Titantic appear to have removed certain items.   To my mind that wreck is a grave and therefore unacceptable  for such behaviour in the name of getting money.

They did another dive and they found that part of the structure had also been removed.

I think in the programme it said that since the first expedition that found it and the localtion now logged that other divers or companies have been going to the site.

They said people were looking for the Safes which held the jewellery and valuables belonging to those long dead passengers.   There were quite a few millionaires onboard.

I think anything found on the Titanic should be put in the museum, for everybody to see. I agree, anybody making money from the finds should be made to give it back, or fined.
