Hi Keith

Thank you for your very kind offer.

I’m after a baptism look up for the parish of Aston Botterell, records supposedly from 1559-1813 for:

William (Edwd) Blakemore of Aston Botterell married in Burwarton in 1788, so I’d say he would be born around 1760.

Also any siblings he may have and his parents details (their marriage, birth) if possible – if from the same parish and if you have time and it is not to much of a difficult task.

The second person I’m interested in is Ralph Blakemore born in 1846 in Wheathill . So if possible could I get a look up for the parish of Wheathill (records from 1573-1981) for his baptism around that year.

Also if you have time a marriage look up for Burwarton (1575-1845 ) or Stoke St Milborough (records from 1654-1839) for Edward Blakemore (born 1789 in Burwarton) to a Sarah (born 1805 in Bicton (no records for until 1853 though) – quite a long distance away – no surname known). Their first child William was born in Stoke St Milborough in 1838, so married from 1830-> perhaps as makes Sarah about 25+. No worries if this is too time consuming as I’m sure you wish to do your own research too.

To make the tree a bit clear William (Edwd) Blakemore of Aston Botterell is father of Edward Blakemore born 1789 in Burwarton who is father of Ralph Blakemore.  ;)

hope that makes sense
Thanks a million
Good luck

Hi Keith

I've previously posted this request on the Shropshire board, but if the info is held at Shropshire RO it would be MUCH appreciated if you could do a look up..

I'm looking for a BENJAMIN PREECE on the 1861 and 1851 census for Shropshire.

In 1881 here he is with his family:
Benjamin Preece   Head   M   40   Railway Lab  Stapleton
Sarah Preece   Wife   M   31   Condover
Ada M   Dau   U   8      Condover
Jane   Dau   U   7      St Mary's
Lizzie   Dau   U   5      Condover
Alice   Dau   U   3      Condover
Thomas   Son   U   10mo      Condover

I think this is him, ten years earlier - unmarried and living at home with his ageing parents:

Benjamin Preece   Head   M   77   Ag Lab   Worthen
Sarah Preece   Wife   M   67      Pontesbury
Benjamin Preece   Son   U   30   Ag Lab   Stapleton

Where was he in 1861 (aged 20) and 1851 (aged 10)?  I would imagine he had older siblings, given the age gap between himself and his parents, and I've also found a possible younger sister.

I would love to find Benjamin senior's birth and marriage to take the line back a further generation, although Benjamin junior's birth certificate is my current target.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Many thanks.

Bel

Hi Bel,

What area have you found them in the 1871  census  - I see they were at Condover in the 1881 census.

Any ideas where they might be in 1861 -1851?

Cheers

Hi Bel,

You were right Ben had lots of siblings - think this lot is them

 1. MARY PREES - International Genealogical Index

 2. MARTHA PREES - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 04 AUG 1833 Stapleton, Shropshire, England

 3. JOHN PREECE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 17 SEP 1848 Stapleton, Shropshire, England

 4. THOMAS PREACE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 24 DEC 1837 Stapleton, Shropshire, England

 5. BENJAMIN PREECE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 13 SEP 1840 Stapleton, Shropshire, England

 6. SARAH PREECE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 28 AUG 1831 Stapleton, Shropshire, England

 7. ROBERT PREESE - International Genealogical Index

 8. JANE PREECE - International Genealogical Index

 9. JANE PREECE - International Genealogical Index

 10. RICHARD PREECE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 14 SEP 1845 Stapleton, Shropshire, England

Batch Number: C008902

All had Benjanin and Sarah as parents - notice the different spelling of surname!

Think that might be enough details for you to get Ben's birth certificate from Shrewsbury Records - not GRO as its only a christening - but with other dates close by it must be after 1838(Thomas)

That will keep you going for now - will still try for other things!!

Cheers
Keith

Hi Keith,

I would be very grateful if you could look up for me a christening for -

HUNT, female named Rhodeth/Rodeth/Rhoda born Norton in Hales or Market Drayton c1833.

The parents should be Joseph Hunt and Hannah Bloore.

Also a death/burial for Hannah HUNT March Qtr 1838 at Market Drayton.  Hoping it might give me an age or husband's name which would be Joseph Hunt.

Many thanks, Irene

Keith

You are an ABSOLUTE STAR!!!   ;) ;) ;)

Thank you very much for this info - it gives me a lot to go on.  I'm pretty sure this is the right family, as Benjamin's children (born 1870s onwards) were called:

Ada M
Jane
Lizzie
Alice
Thomas
Martha
Benjamin

so it looks like he named some of them after his own siblings.  The two Janes christened so close together is a bit odd, so maybe only one was his - all may be revealed on the 1851 census.

In 1871 Benjamin and his parents were living at "Stapleton Common" - all the people you have found were christened in Stapleton, so I think it's reasonable to assume that he was there in 1851/1861 also.

When Benjamin later married (a Sarah, just like his dad!)around 1873, they lived in Condover and all his children were born there, the last one around 1886.  By 1891 they were in Exfords Green, which is not a million miles away.

Any more info you could find would be really helpful, but I'm very grateful for what you've found already!!

Many thanks
