finding a death
« on: Saturday 12 January 08 16:36 GMT (UK) »
I have a problem in finding out when my grandmother died.  I believe she died between 1932-1939 as I am sure my dad said she died when he was serving in India between these dates.

How can I find her as the death indexes only seem to go to 1929.  She died in Plaistow, Essex and I have an obituary in a parish magazine from St Philips Church but unfortunately it is only a copy of two pages and no dates anywhere.  According to the obituary she was buried near to Father Henry who was a Franciscan who had something to do with this church.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Which death indexes do you mean :) The full death indexes are available on Ancestry and Findmypast from 1837 to 2005.

I can't remember which site I was on at the time and I haven't taken the plunge yet in paying for access as I am not sure which site is the best.  I take it there are no free death indexes as I just looked at find my past and I would have to pay to see anything.

Thank you very much for replying.

Wow thank you Toni thats brilliant.

Thanks Suz for that site, I had seen it as I had googled The Franciscans and even e-mailed them for help as to where Father Henry was buried but as yet have had no reply.

Is it possible to look for my grandfather John Claridge, he would have died in Plaistow somewhere between 1928-1934.  Thanks once again.
